So what is a Monopoly?

A monopoly is a situation in which one company controls an industry or is the only provider of a product or service.
Monopolies are regulated by the government because posessing complete market power is considered to be desctructive and unfair.

The word "monopoly" also often sparks the image of the popular game by Milton Bradley.
